Final Field For the 2010 Expressway Stakes

February 4th, 2010

Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse will be gearing up to host the 2010 Expressway Stakes on Saturday as the first lead up race to the highly anticipated Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

The final field has been released and the barriers drawn to reveal eight starters for Saturday’s Group 2 race and the line up is certainly one to impress.

Drawing the coveted inside barrier at the Expressway Stakes is Dao Dao. The six-year-old will take advantage of the draw after proving himself at the Hong Kong Champions Mile having been place. Out wide is Gathering, who took the second spot at the Spring Champion Stakes.

A notable name in the starting line-up is the Manikato Stakes winner Danleigh.

A notable name in the starting line-up is the Manikato Stakes winner Danleigh. The Chris Waller-trained gelding drew the third barrier. Local Waller has another gelding starting on Saturday in Rangirangdoo.

Clarry Conners-trained Court, who drew the fifth barrier, is impressing punters coming into the 2010 Expressway Stakes with two recent wins, one of which was the Carrington Stakes at Flemington in January.

Another favourite is Centennial Park. David Payne’s gelding is entering the event on particularly good form winning the Group 3 AAMI Stakes (1400m) in October where he beat fellow 2010 Expressway Stakes starter McClintock.

The Expressway Stakes is headlining Saturdays racing at the Randwick Racecourse with seven other races also taking place.
